Sick Strange Darkness
That noise you hear when everything is silent. Those lines floating across your vision. Reading this and wondering why your tongue can't sit comfortably in your mouth. The tension between ex-lovers. That feeling when you hear bad news. Going somewhere, but not remembering why, and going back again. Your side of the bed. Her side of the bed. The picture on your wall, surrounded with other pictures to hide it. The memories that come back when you smell someone. The half memories of passionate sex. The books you read to find somewhere better. The rules you make, that you keep making exceptions to. The self conscious steps you take when you think about how you're walking. Never remebering 'ei' or 'ie'. The things we do for friends. Going to bed early and feeling even more tired the next day. Accepting that noone else gets what you mean. The day after rough sport where you can hardly move, and looking forward to playing again next week. Internet cartoons that restore your faith in people. Knowing how to make her smile, no matter what's happened.

What’s another drag of the cigarette? Another pill? One to make you stronger, another to make you sleep. Sleeping is rest. Rest when you die. Live fast and die young. Youth and innocence. Innocence blackened by society. Society needs protecting from people. The bible says no to protected sex. Unprotected sex means aids and pregnancy. Pregnancy leads to the most difficult choice two people can make. Aren’t we all just people? People die every day. Cancer kills. Smoking causes cancer. What’s another drag?
